Course Description

(Designed to help prepare for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) examination.) Prerequisite: CMIT 265. A hands-on introduction to Cisco internetworking devices. The goal is to configure and manage Cisco switches within multiprotocol internetworks. Topics include VoIP (voice over Internet protocol), wireless network protocols, and routing protocols. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: CAPP 498E, CMIT 350, or CMIT 499D.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, students should be able to:

  • Configure, verify, and troubleshoot Cisco Internet Operating System (IOS)
  • Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP services to meet wired and wireless network requirements
  • Implement and manage routing protocols and wide area networks (WAN) links
  • Identify security threats to a network and implement appropriate solutions to mitigate those threats, including firewalls, Network Address Translation (NAT), and access control list (ACL)
