Course Description

This course explores the use and effectiveness of architectural modeling to describe an organization and examines model-based products to support, influence, and enable organization planning, and decision-making.

Learning Objectives

  • Students gain practical experience with work-products common to the DOD Architecture Framework (DODAF) and OMB Federal Segment Architecture Methodology (FSAM), as well as other established frameworks.
  • Models examined in the course include: object-oriented models (e.g., Unified Modeling Language (UML)) covering process, data, and systems; and Structured models (e.g. IDEF).
  • Emphasis is placed on the efficacy of modeling styles and the interpretation of the descriptive models.
