Course Description

This course provides an overview of current technologies used to provide secure transport of information across networks. Topics include data integrity through encryption, Virtual Private Networks, SSL, SSH, and IPSec. Upon completion, students should be able to implement secure data transmission technologies

  • Understand the concepts in host security, such as need of securing individual hosts and threats specific to hosts
  • Understand firewalls and firewall security concerns
  • Understand different types of intrusions and their indications
  • Understand Virtual Private Network (VPN), its working, importance, and components

  • Understand network traffic monitoring and its importance
