Course Description

The Optical Communications Consultant (OC-C) course is a five-day course that provides students with practical experience in planning and designing Optical Communications (OC) networks through case-based exercises and subject matter expert reviews and develops the analytic skills required for designing OC solutions.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the process of optical design and methodology
  • Understand the concepts of optical link engineering
  • Present a OC network solution in a design review scenario
  • Define a OC network design with:
    • A set of service definitions that will support the requirements of optical network applications
    • An optical network transport solution to support service definitions
    • The physical infrastructure to support the optical transport design
    • Plans for network commissioning and service verification
    • Initial requirements for DCN, management and rollout scenario
