Morgan State University’s Network Information and Embedded Systems Security Center of Academic Excellence (NIESS-CAE) is designed to provide a portal through which our students and faculty can learn about reducing vulnerabilities in our national information infrastructure. Morgan has a commitment to the development of academic programs in support of a Cyber Security Center of Excellence. Certificate options are being developed for the Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Science and Systems Departments. Within the Electrical Engineering program, there are currently four options, based on academic level, that a student can take as a pathway to cyber security learning. These programs are focused on complying with the NSA/DHS Center of Excellence in Cyber Defense Education certification standards and are as follows:
- Electrical Engineering Cyber Engineering Track (Undergraduate)
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Concentration in Signal Intelligence (Graduate)
- United States Navy / Morgan State University Master of Engineering (ME) in Cyber Engineering
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Cyber Security (Graduate)
We have established a process that provides programs in the field of Cyber Defense education at the graduate and undergraduate levels; continuously improves the quality of our Cyber Defense program, curriculum, faculty and students; and provides the Nation with a pipeline of qualified students eager to become Cyber Defense professionals.
With this process in place, we expect to produce a growing number of professionals with expertise in various Cyber Defense disciplines. And with Morgan having one of the highest graduation rates of African-American Electrical Engineers, we hope to open the cyber security market to this community.
