Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) ranks second in the nation for its cybersecurity curriculum, according to Degree Prospects, a Washington, D.C.-based publisher of informational websites in higher education. Contributing to this ranking are Georgia Tech's subject matter expertise, breadth of research labs, various Center of Excellence designations, scholarship and grant opportunities, and proximity to a burgeoning technology industry. In addition, Georgia Tech's School of Public Policy holds the #2 spot nationally in the U.S. News & World Report's latest ranking. The institution has recently extended its Master of Science in Cybersecurity to also include an online option which can be earned for less than $10,000.
Since 2014, Georgia Tech has been designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research (CAE-R) by the National Security Agency and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Universities with this designation are recognized for meeting stringent research criteria, mapping curricula to a core set of cyber defense knowledge principles, and encouraging students to pursue doctoral research in cybersecurity.
Georgia Tech offers professional education courses in cybersecurity which can be combined to earn a Georgia Tech Cybersecurity Certificate. Organizations can contract these courses to be taught at customer sites or at Georgia Tech facilities throughout the country. These courses cover topics including cybersecurity fundamentals, risk management, embedded device security, malware analysis, penetration testing, test & evaluation, security operations, insider threat, digital forensics, and secure software development.
