It’s back-to-school time for kids of all ages and in honor of the season, DHS has just released new training and education resources to help advance the cybersecurity careers of government employees.

Check out the two new cybersecurity courses available on the Federal Virtual Training Environment (FedVTE).  FedVTE is a free online training tool that has more than 800 hours of training on cybersecurity topics available to all government employees and veterans.

Here’s a look at the new courses:

  • Cyber Investigations – Introduces concepts and technologies relevant to investigations that have a digital or cyber component.
  • Mobile Forensics – Provides an overview of mobile forensics, the branch of digital forensics that focuses on forensically sound extraction and analysis of evidence from mobile devices.

FedVTE courses are available for all experience levels. Register for the new courses – and explore any and all others – at

DHS has also released the newest version of the Veterans Cybersecurity Education and Training Toolkit. To help veterans build a career pathway into cybersecurity, this toolkit outlines education and training resources – including scholarships, free on-demand training, and a course catalog tool. These resources can help veterans learn new cybersecurity skills or brush up on old ones.
