The Brand New NICCS Website Has Launched
Since 2012, the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) has helped U.S. citizens find the education and training they need to advance their careers and close the skill gaps in the cybersecurity workforce.
Today we are proud to present the brand new NICCS website. You will immediately see a brand new homepage with complete new design and functionality. NICCS is now responsive in its design, adjusting the site presentation for optimal viewing on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Content is streamlined and easier to find within our three main tabs: Training, Formal Education, and Workforce Development. Each section has a consistent theme to help visitors know where they are in the site at all times. These three sections have always been, and remain, the focus of the NICCS mission.
The Education and Training Catalog is the heart of our Training section. The robust search capabilities allow visitors to search courses by keyword, delivery method, specialty area, proficiency level, or their specific location. All courses remain aligned to the Cybersecurity Workforce Framework, which is presented in a more organized and informative way. We even incorporated related courses from the Training Catalog into each Specialty Area’s detailed presentation.
Our new Formal Education section easily and accurately directs visitors to cybersecurity resources for teachers, schools, and students. Formal Education will feature the CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS) and National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) programs, as well as information about cybersecurity competitions and integrating cybersecurity into the classroom.
Housed in the new Workforce Development section are a variety of tools and resources which provide organizations the means to prepare, plan, build, and advance a superior cyber workforce. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provides expertise across all areas of the workforce development lifecycle. We hope our visitors will take advantage of tools like the Cybersecurity Workforce Development Toolkit to help close the cybersecurity skills gap.
Brand new to the site are our Featured Stories. Featured Stories will be published throughout the month highlighting initiatives in education, workforce development, and awareness. Our first Featured Story is an overview of this year’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month weekly themes.
Some content has been changed or removed, but there are still ways to find all of the resources and information to guide you through your cybersecurity careers. Previous key documents are now located in the Workforce Development Library. Careers, research, resources and glossary information are potential topics we will cover in Featured Stories.
