Introduction
The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) defines the work within the cybersecurity field, raises national awareness about the risks in cyberspace, helps the nation maintain a globally-competitive cybersecurity workforce, and broadens the pool of skilled workers capable of supporting a cyber-secure nation. NICCS underscores all elements of NICE and serves as a national resource for government, industry, academia, and the public to learn about cybersecurity awareness, education, careers, and workforce development opportunities.
The Training Catalog provides a robust listing of all the cybersecurity or cybersecurity-related education and training courses offered in the U.S. NICCS will not teach the courses, but rather does provide a central resource to help people find the information on courses they want or need.
The Training Catalog allows users to search for education and training courses based on a variety of criteria including: keyword, proficiency level, delivery method, and Framework Specialty Area. To get an idea of what the Training Catalog does click on "Search Courses" tab.
Here is where we need your help!
To make the Training Catalog a useful resource, we need your help! We are currently asking all Federal training and education providers to submit a list of their courses, mapped to the Framework; which can be included in our database. (The Training Catalog will also be open to all other providers, once our data collection tools are approved for use.) For a copy of the forms you will need to submit your courses, please contact the NICCS Supervisory Office.
Training courses can be added to the Catalog in June and September of this year. Here are the deadlines by which the NICCS SO will need your course listings in order to ensure inclusion in the catalog at those times:
- - For the June 2013 release date, the NICCS SO needs your course listings by April 24, 2013
- - For the September 2013 release date, the NICCS SO needs your course listings by July 24, 2013
Also, you can download and view this presentation to learn more about the background of the catalog, and also the process to follow to add your course to the Catalog.
What's in it for my organization?
Inclusion in the catalog makes your courses visible to a wide audience – every cybersecurity professional across the nation– and delivers cybersecurity professionals the resources they need to build new skills.
Is your organization interested in participating? Please email the NICCS SO if you would like to be included in future mailings with more detailed instructions about the catalog and how to upload your content.
Don't forget to check back here for updates as the Training Catalog grows!
